What do you think? He was born into a f***ed up future and could've been abducted by that green supreme Kai person. I haven't read into it but that's kind of what I heard. Might be cool. What do you think?

But Goten is a half saiyan his hair probably wouldn't look like that older. There's also that part the way he calls Trunks "Saiyan." It doesn't seem like the guy could be a saiyan. I don't think they'll do something that complex. Dragon Ball Super is doing things too simple. But it would be a cool twist I wouldn't mind if it happened honestly.

Since saiyans from U6 are the opposite of U7, it would make sense for U6's Goku to be the opposite of U7's Goku.

We all know Goten can't be from Future Trunks's timeline. @Notaka: Doubt that. Seems too obvious and if there was an opposite Goku I don't think he'd have the same body features.

And yeah that was the point of giving Goten a new hairstyle so people didn't confuse Goten with Goku because Goten was getting older.

I can't help but feel that the stakes wouldn't be as high if it was Goten nor would it be as impactful for the viewer. There is already such a connection between Goku and the audience, as well as the other characters, to where it makes it that much more emotional. Goten is too much of a supporting character. There wouldn't be that "oh s***" moment.
